MEETING MINUTES 
April 12, 2021
 
Meeting called to order via zoom at 6:30.
Present: Joe Frank, Jenne James, Gillet Page, Jennifer Comeau and Carol Laboissonniere
 
1. Joe reported that the KCC Town Website now links to the KCC Facebook page.
2. Gill reported that she wrote letters to the principles of the three schools regarding use and disposal of plastics.
3. Discussion for Jennifer to contact Stacey at Maine DEP to secure educational information for climate action plan.  This is subsequent to the comprehensive 2020 climate action report that Carol secured from the DEP.
4. Jennifer presented the ECO-Quiz footprint calculator located at footprintcalculator.org. Suggestion was made for Jennifer to contact schools with this link information.
5. Jenne reported on the KCT project at Meadow Woods Preserve.
6. Jill reported on the “Mainecantwait” program that the local students presented to the Rotary.
7. Carol reported on phone discussion with Werner on replanting of trees in Binnacle Hill Development. He advised that large areas of trees in wetlands were preserved. Land Use ordinance does not require replanting of trees taken down for construction.
8. Carol reported on phone discussion with Werner on stormwater filtration maintenance. There is not a plan in place for managing/inspecting stormwater filtration systems in housing developments.
9. Carol reported on phone discussion with Werner on Goose Rocks beach water quality. The report dated February 2021 on pollution source tracking efforts in the Goose Rocks Beach Watershed does describe recent actions by the town regarding local septic systems. This report is available through the Maine Healthy Beaches Program -Maine Department of Environmental Protection.
10. Carol reported on the Portland Pesticide Management Advisory Committee meeting of 4/6/21. An arborist (cgoossen@mofga.org) spoke about organic treatment options for Brown Tail Moth. The lantern fly is an insect of concern with the “tree of heaven” a favorite host. 
11. Carol will prepare article for Kennebunkport Town Review on organic lawn care.
