Dog Rules for Goose Rocks Beach

The Town of Kennebunkport has an ordinance requiring dogs to be leashed in certain areas of town. The Goose Rocks area is included, and the following are the specific rules for the beach:

 

In addition, Piping Plovers, which are protected under the Endangered Species Act, nest on the beach.  The Maine Audubon Society, with volunteers, erects and maintains enclosures around the nests.  Harassing these birds is a Federal offense. The Police Department will be again providing extra patrols during the summer season and, along with Animal Control, will be enforcing the laws.

Dog waste bag dispensers are located at the beach access points, and dog owners are expected to use them in order to keep the beach clean and limit pollution.
