EMERGENCY:

DIAL 9-1-1

THE KENNEBUNKPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Kennebunkport Fire Department consists of over 70 volunteer members responding from the Town's four stations: Cape Porpoise, Goose Rocks Beach, Port Village, and Wildes District. We presently operate 11 pieces of fire apparatus, plus 2 Zodiac inflatable boats for water rescue.

Our apparatus includes 4 engines, a ladder truck, 4 brush trucks, a rescue squad, and a 3500 gallon tanker truck. Seven of the trucks have been acquired at no cost to the taxpayers of Kennebunkport, having been purchased for the Town by the Kittredge Family Fire Equipment Fund, the Clifford Seavey Trust or donations from the local community. These most generous gifts have allowed our members to protect our community with some of the finest equipment available.

Kennebunkport's firefighters are men and women of all walks of life who are commited to the safety of our town. We are a volunteer "call force" and are paid only for response to calls and some training time. We respond to fire calls, motor vehicle accidents, water rescue situations, hazardous materials incidents, missing person searches, and many other types of emergencies. We routinely provide mutual aid to the fire departments of Arundel, Biddeford, Kennebunk and Wells. We train regularly in many areas of our operations. Approximately 40 of us are trained to the Firefighter 1 or 2 level. Many of us have advanced training in HAZMAT and Weapons of Mass Destruction Operations, automobile extrication, water rescue, technical rescue, and other specialized areas.

If you are interested in learning more about what we do and possibly becoming a member, please call the Fire Department business office or ask any Kennebunkport Firefighter. Your inquiry may lead to one of the most rewarding things you have ever done!
