Vital Records

What is a Vital Record?

Vital records consist of birth, marriage and death records. The Town Clerk keeps all the birth, marriage and death records for the Town of Kennebunkport from 1892 to the present.

Prior to 1892 it was not mandated that these records be filed with the Town Clerk. This means that any records prior to 1892 are unofficial and few and far between.

How can I get a certified copy of a birth, marriage or death record?

A certified copy of a birth, marriage or death record may be ordered by authorized persons either in person at the Town Hall or by mail. Please call the Town Clerk at 207-967-1610 to verify that the town has the record you are seeking. To order a record, please complete the appropriate form below, provide your driver's license (or a photocopy of it if ordering by mail) and a check for the proper amount made payable to Town of Kennebunkport. If ordering by mail, please include a return address.

The cost of a certified copy of a vital record is $15.00 for the first copy and $6.00 for each additional copy of the same record, purchased at the same time. The certified copy will be sent by regular mail.
