Village Parcel Public Kick Off Event and Public Visioning Session

Village Parcel Master Plan - The master plan process for the Village Parcel on North Street is underway.  The Town has engaged the consulting team of Mitchell & Associates, Gorrill Palmer, Camoin Associates and Principle to orchestrate the public process and develop the master plan.  The Board of Selectmen has appointed a steering committee to lead the Towns participation in the development of the master planning process.  The timeline for the master plan will be from April through October 2019.  Initial efforts will be in information gathering and identification of site specific opportunities and constraints for the parcel.  Initial public introduction to the process and participation will occur on May 30th, with a public visioning session on July 13th. The final master plan to be completed the end of October 2019.

You are In Charge - The Village Parcel is a unique opportunity for the people of Kennebunkport to shape the future of the Town. Many voices, opinions, and needs will shape the conversation and a master plan that meets as many local goals as possible. The plan will be largely shaped during large-group conversations, facilitated by a team of designers who will listen, ask questions, and help shape the vision with the community. To provide an opportunity for additional public discussion, input, and questions throughout the process people can comment through the Town’s Facebook page and through a project email.

This meeting will provide an overview of the project, begin to collect input from the community, and ask the people who attend how to successfully invite more people into the conversation.

Agenda:
6:00 pm      Welcome, project overview, including parameters of project.
6:15 pm      Visual Preference Survey exercise
6:45 pm      Idea wall – What is more important to you?  What will make this project successful?
7:15 pm      Brainstorm on how to generate more community involvement

9:00 am      Welcome, project overview, measures of project success summary.
9:30 am      Presentation that includes inspiration, trends, and precedent.
10:15 am    Table work, including mapping exercise that asks for input related to both physical
                   attributes of the plan area, desired uses, other ideas. And a building type worksheet
                   to gather input on what people desire related to the built environment.
11:15 am    Report out from mapping activity.
11:40 am    Moderated Q & A
