What do the different colors of spray paint on the streets and sidewalks mean?

The different colored spray paint indicates the location of underground utilities according to Dig Safe.

Below is the color coding system:

  • RED: Electric Power Lines, Cables, Conduit and Lighting Cables
  • YELLOW: Gas, Oil, Steam, Petroleum or Gaseous Materials
  • ORANGE: Communication, Alarm or Signal Lines, Cables or Conduits
  • BLUE: Potable, Water
  • GREEN: Sewers and Drain Lines
  • PURPLE: Reclaimed Water, Irrigation and Slurry Lines
  • PINK: Temporary Survey Markings
  • WHITE: Proposed Excavation
