Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I park at the beach?

Parking is allowed only in posted spaces on King’s Highway, Dyke Road, and New Biddeford Road. Permits are required from Memorial Day weekend – Labor Day between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

How do I get a parking permit?

Parking permits are required at the beach from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, 8 AM to 6 PM.  Daily ($30) and weekly ($100) permits can be purchased at kiosks (no cash) outside the GRB General Store or at Proctor and Kings Highway. Seasonal stickers ($200) are available at Town Hall, 6 Elm Street, Monday-Friday. Cars parked without a permit will be ticketed and fined.

Are dogs allowed on the beach?

Seasonal dog rules are posted on signs at beach entrances. Please follow them to respect everyone’s enjoyment of the beach.
 - April 1- June 14: Dogs must be leashed
 - June 15 - Labor Day: No dogs allowed 9 AM – 5 PM / leashed other times
 - Labor Day – September 15: Dogs must be leashed (end of nesting plover season)
 - September 16 -March 31: Dogs must be leashed Noon – 6 PM / unleashed other times if under voice control

Why are some areas marked off for no access?

Goose Rocks Beach is one of Maine’s essential habitats for endangered Plovers and Terns. Please be alert to signs and wire cages that mark nesting areas. Dogs must be leashed and kept 200 feet away from nesting areas.

Can we sit anywhere on the beach?

Under the Beach Use Agreement, signers of the Agreement may ask you to sit or play beyond their 25-foot sand “reserved areas.” Please cooperate. Learn more about the Agreement on the Goose Rocks Beach Advisory Committee page.

Are there lifeguards at the beach?

There are no lifeguards on duty on GRB. All visitors use the beach at their own risk.

Are beach fires allowed?

No fires are allowed on the beach without a fire permit. Learn more HERE.

What else is prohibited at the beach?

Alcohol, overnight camping, fireworks, glass containers, climbing on seawalls, launching motorized boats, motorized vehicles, smoking and vaping, overnight or dune grass storage of boats or beach gear, walking on dunes or dune grass, collecting live creatures, speeding watercraft near shoreline, flying drones, leaving deep holes on beach.
