Welcome/ Farewells Select Note Taker Review of Minutes

- Introductions were made. David Breault, Juvenile Officer with the Kennebunkport Police Department, plans to try to regularly attend the YSC meetings. Commissioners explained the role and expectations of Commissioners and welcomed Dave. Rachel gave an overview of the YSC to catch Dave up.
- Rachel reported on her meeting with Joe Bruni and the focus on increasing collaboration and communication. Chief Bruni invited Rachel to present on the Youth Services Coordinator role, referral process and resources at their fall training for the KportPD staff.

- Rachel reported on her meetings this summer with the new principals of KHS and MSK.
- Rachel reported on the plans for the Purple Hands Assembly at MSK.
- Dolores and Rachel shared some of the work and activities of the United Way. Dolores gave an overview of the new funding protocols. They also discussed the status of 211 and the enormous increase in calls this year.
- Rachel reported on her upcoming fall activities that she has spent the summer months planning and organizing: Fran Kessler-Richardson, s.w. at KHS, is organizing a meeting in October of MSAD #71staff and key community and service agencies to address how to access resources and services for emergency needs this winter for our families; there will be a York County Community Conversation on Early Childhood in October; there will be a York County Prevention Collaborative Summit on the Economic impact of prevention; there will be a Community Network Forum on “Trauma Today”.
- Rachel has provided materials on Full of Ourselves: A Wellness Program to Advance Girl Power, Health and Leadership for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade open houses at MKS. She will run a class at MSK in November.
- Rachel reported on a meeting with Kennebunk Police Chief Bob MacKenzie about developing a juvenile diversion program based on JumpStart. The plan is to meet with current KPD staff and Lt. Tony Burpee who previously ran the JumpStart program to begin to plan. Kennebunkport officers will be invited as well.

- There was a discussion about how to effectively market the PERC class that Rachel will offer in October. Karen agreed to make a nice PERC flyer to have available at the MSK and KHS open houses this month. Karen and Betsy will make calls to secure a location for the class. Brick Store Museum, Tom’s of Maine and the Perkins Room at Graves Library were suggested.
- Group discussed importance and difficulty of getting parents involved and continual need for parent education. It was agreed that at our next meeting we will add to the agenda a discussion of different strategies to reach parents.

- Karen will work on the PERC flyer and have flyers and a sign up sheet available at MSK and KHS open houses.
- Karen and Betsy and Rachel will make calls to determine location for next PERC class.
