Goose Rocks and Colony Beach Water Status

The laboratory results are in for July 14, 2010.
Water samples taken at three sites at Goose Rock Beach still have an elevated bacteria reading. (Enterococci levels below 104 colonies of bacteria are considered acceptable levels.) It is advised that you avoid water contact at Goose Rocks Beach.
This advisory is in place until further notice. These sites will be retested tomorrow, July 16, 2010.
Samples taken at Colony Beach are within normal limits and are open for water contact.
The Town of Kennebunkport participates in the Maine Healthy Beaches Program, a cooperative partnership to test the water quality of Maine beaches. Volunteers take tests once each week. If tests identify elevated bacteria levels, the public is notified to avoid water contact.
