 Call to Protect Program
The Kennebunkport Public Health Department is a local sponsoring site for the nationwide Call to Protect Program. The mission of this program is to provide victims of domestic abuse with free pre-programmed wireless phones for their use in an emergency. New, used or broken wireless phones are being collected. The phones are then sent to Motorola for repair. Phones that are determined reliable are given to domestic abuse programs. Funds from recycled parts and unusable phones are also designated toward domestic abuse programs. Once phones are given to local domestic abuse programs, they are programmed for 911 and one additional emergency number for the recipient. All monthly fees are covered by the program.
