Kennebunkport firefighters held a training burn of a small structure on Beachwood Avenue that was slated for demolition. Several new members had the opportunity to gain some experience in handling hose lines under realistic conditions.









Rescue Boat Training July 2009

Kennebunkport Fire personnel conducted training with the department's two Zodiac rescue boats in Cape Porpoise harbor on a pleasant Sunday morning. The training  scenario was a search and rescue and extraction operation for two injured subjects on Folley Island.

Ice Rescue Training March 2009

Firefighters from Kennebunk and Kennebunkport conducted a joint training exercise in ice rescue operations under the guidance of Captain Allan Moir on a pond off Oak Ridge Road.  Participants practiced the safe retrieval of simulated victims using various techniques to access and recover them.

Maritime MCI Exercise October 2008

Kennebunkport's two rescue boats and a large contingent of firefighters participated in a maritime mass-casualty incident exercise in Biddeford Pool. The large drill involved rescue boats and personnel from several agencies, including the Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Kennebunkport, and Scarborough Fire Departments and the Maine Marine Patrol. The scenario involved simulated patients brought ashore from a mishap on a charter fishing boat, who were triaged and then transported to hospitals via the Life Flight of Maine helicopter and ground ambulances.

Kennebunkport firefighters practice Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) procedures in March 2007. Rescue teams trained with the new Scott RIT Packs used to supply air to firefighters who become trapped during a fire.

The Conservation Trust's Goat Island Web Cam captured Kennebunkport Fire & KEMS personnel
conducting a training exercise in 2003. A local reporter served as the "victim", and was treated for simulated injuries and removed from the island in our rescue boat. Her newspaper article appeared in the York County Coast Star.

Kennebunkport firefighters conduct a training burn in 2002 of the farmhouse that stood at the present location of the Highpoint Farm development off Wildes District Road.
