Atlantic Volunteer Engine Company Cape Porpoise
A private social organization that supports the activities of the Kennebunkport Fire Department and is based at the Cape Porpoise Fire Station, a facility which it owns and leases a portion of to the Town and to KEMS.

Chief Officer       
An officer with the rank of Chief, Assistant Chief or District Chief.

Command     
Command refers to those functions necessary for control and accomplishment of strategic goals. At a complex incident, the COMMAND level will be the highest ranking officers.  They will plan the strategy.  They will develop an adequate and effective command structure.  They will organize the fire ground and provide the support to meet these goals.

Fire Alarm (Dispatch)
Kennebunkport emergency calls are answered by Town of Kennebunkport employees. They are governed by the Town of Kennebunkport Personnel procedures and are supervised by the Kennebunkport Police Chief. The Communications Committee consists of the Fire Chief, Police Chief, one selectman representative, Road Foreman, Sewer Superintendent, Emergency Management Director, and KEMS Chief of Service. The committee establishes the yearly budget and establishes dispatch procedures.

Firefighter
A member, in good standing, of any of the Kennebunkport Fire Department.

Goose Rocks Beach Fire Company
A private social organization that supports the activities of the Kennebunkport Fire Department and is based at the Goose Rocks Beach Fire Station, a facility which it owns and leases a portion of to the Town.

Kennebunkport EMS (KEMS)
KEMS is a private, non-profit volunteer agency that provides emergency medical service to the Town of Kennebunkport. It is not affiliated with the Kennebunkport Fire Department, other than the leasing of space for their office and ambulance at the Cape Porpoise Fire Station.

Kennebunkport Fire Department
The Kennebunkport Fire Department is a municipal agency created on June 14, 2005 by vote of the citizens of Kennebunkport. Personnel and equipment operate out of four stations in Kennebunkport: Port Village, Wildes District, Cape Porpoise, and Goose Rocks Beach. The Fire Chief serves as the Department Head, and is responsible for the organization and operation of the department.

Kennebunkport Fire Service
The Kennebunkport Fire Service was the organization of the four independent fire-fighting companies in the Town of Kennebunkport. It ceased to exist upon the creation of the Kennebunkport Fire Department in 2005.

Kennebunkport Village Fire Company
A private social organization that supports the activities of the Kennebunkport Fire Department and is based at the Port Village Fire Station, a Town owned facility.

Kittredge Family Fire Equipment Fund
A trust fund left to the inhabitants of the Town of Kennebunkport for the purchase of new fire fighting and rescue vehicles equipped and ready for service.

Operations      
Operations refers to those organizational elements that are at the Control Level. OERATIONS will control several TEAMS or COMPANIES. Operations reports to COMMAND.

Clifford D. Seavey Trust        
A trust fund left to the inhabitants of the Town of Kennebunkport for the use and benefit of the Kennebunkport Village Fire Company

Sectors
Sectors are identified as the Tactical Level of Command in the organizational structure.

SOG
Suggested Operating Guideline a procedure that is recommended to follow, but may be changed  if the situation dictates another procedure

Tactical-Level       
The level which oversees the resources to achieve a goal set by strategy or command.   

Task-Level           
The level that uses the resources to accomplish the goal

Teams (Or companies)
This is the Task Level in the organizational structure. This refers to those evolution-oriented functions, or company level operations, and individual accomplishments, which add up to the achievement of the SECTOR goal. NOTE: COMMAND assignment of OPS , OPS to SECTOR, SECTOR to TEAM or COMM/OPS to TEAM are of a specific goal.  The level receiving the assignment determines the evolution necessary to complete the task.

Unit            
A vehicle which has a radio that receives and transmits on Fire Alarm frequency (153.800).

Wildwood Volunteer Fire Comany (Wildes District)
A private social organization that supports the activities of the Kennebunkport Fire Department and is based at the Wildes District Fire Station, a Town owned facility.
