Present: Janet Weston

The non-conforming cutting at Parson’s Way was discussed. Thibodeau’s Landscaping did the cutting at the direction of Brian Shaw, CEO. Linda Wade spoke on the phone with Parson’s way Committee member Rick Griffin and with the husband of Committee Chair
Louise Spang. Both Mr. Griffin and Mr. Spang said the cutting was done with instruction from Brian Shaw.
Janet Weaton will write a letter to the Selectmen and Brian Shaw.
Janet reported that the Water Company had agreed to cut back the pavement under the tower on crow hill so that Lynn’s vegetation restoration project can take place.
Dennis reported that the Conservation Trust is going to be busy with large scale fund raising for land acquisition. (The Grist Mill and Steele properties)
Janet reported on the recent water quality workshop. The over arching message was: “monitor, monitor, monitor” and “Sample, sample, sample”
Every other New England State mandates beach monitoring, but in Maine it is voluntary. Beach monitoring at Goose Rocks will start in May.~ This~~sampling is ~for entrecocci for~public health and ocean health.
The phytoplankton~sampling resumed in April at the Cape Porpoise pier. Certain phytoplankton~can be toxic and are indicators of~shellfish poisoning.

Earth Day is Saturday April 23 and Commission members who are able will meet at 9AM at Firemen’s Park to walk the Public Right of Ways and pick up litter.
Linda and Ruth agreed to met with Janet from 9-11 on the 13th to work on a “friendly” brochure alerting residents to the environmental restrictions on their property.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Wade, acting Secretary
