Discussion of critical edge questions on the June 8, 2004 ballot. Committee felt that the change in shrubbery height could potentially have lots of negative repercussions on wildlife by removing habitat. Discussion of not cutting until September. Discussion of fines and the importance of restoring to its pre-infraction state.

It has been suggested that we write a letter encouraging people to protect the critical edge-don’t cut the shrubbery down to three feet, don’t cut shrubbery until the fall when birds are done nesting, don’t cut trees. Ruth has volunteered to do a first draft and circulate by e-mail.

Term Expirations -

Ruth Fiske and Dennis Rogers have the opportunity to seek reappointment to the Conservation Commission.

Jan Collins is resigning her position as she will be moving out of town. Dennis Rogers has volunteered to act as liaison to the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust and the Town Forest Committee.

Support for more stringent discharge enforcement in the Kennebunk River. Unanimous support of letter by Kennebunk Shellfish Committee.

Priorities for the Coming Year-

A. Develop a document outlining the responsibilities of homeowners in the Critical Edge to be distributed by the Code Enforcement Officer. PRIORITY for next few meetings.
